Teaching union family trees
This page shows the origins of the teaching unions in the form of a family tree. Family trees are shown for the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers, National Union of Teachers, Association of Teachers and Lecturers and the University and College Union. The National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers merged in 2017 to form the National Education Union.

NASUWT includes: National Association of Schoolmasters; Union of Women Teachers; Scottish Schoolmasters Association; National Association of Men Teachers; Women Teachers Franchise Union.

NUT includes: National Union of Uncertified Teachers; National Union of Elementary Teachers.

Association of Teachers and Lectures includes: Assistant Masters and Mistresses Association; Assistant Masters Association; Association of Assistant Mistresses.

UCU includes: Association of University Teachers; National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education; Association of College Lecturers; Association of Teachers in Technical Institutions.
